Equipment & Check-Out/In Management Database Program

Katz designed and programmed database program, called TINaA, based on Filemaker Pro 7 for California State University, Long Beach, Film and Electronic Arts Department.

Here is JUST a brief introduction of the database software.

Main Menu

All functions are able to operate GUI based.
In addition to menu bottons, bulliten board system enables staff to communicate.

Equipment Management

At California State University, Long Beach - Film and Electronic Arts Departments owns over 3000 film & video equipment and parts, including Aaton Super 16mm Camera, Canon XL-2 and etc.

In addition to category and subcategory system, Packageing system makes staff easier to search, and check themn out quickly.

It's been very efficient especially for advanced production class film shoot since they lend a camera package, lights, grips and sound equipment from school. Sometime, staff needs to check out over 150 iteams within an hour.

Check Out / Check In Equipment

It's easy to search student (customer) information (if she/he is already a customer), and even though CSULB FEA department has over 2000 equipment and parts for check out. The search function mode makes staff easy to search.

It also keeps in track the history records.

Check out - by typing equip ID #.

Check out - selecting equipment to be checked out.

Graphical User Interface

All functions are available through main screen, no more going though pull-down menu on the top of window,

Other Functions

• Student (customer) information management
  • Since this software is designed for school, I designed the punishment (e.g., if she/he return equipment late, she/he won' be able to check out equipment without supervisor's approval)
• Staff management
  • Supervisot, & Staff privillege
  • Since equipment check out was done by student, it keeps the records of who checked out which equipment.
• Facility management (in the future)
  • In the future, it will be able to manage reservation for production/post-production facilities, such as Avid, Final Cut Pro, ProTools, ADR, and Lighing Studio
